2026 Delmar Golf Course President’s Newsletter
"What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us" — Henry David Thoreau
Dear Members,
Since 2012, Delmar members have been the driving force behind our transformation. Along the way, we made mistakes, recognized them, and learned from them. Each challenge forced us to adapt, improve, and rethink how we operate. By acknowledging where we fell short and choosing to grow from it, Delmar has continued to evolve—becoming more resilient, more determined and more focused on reaching our full potential.
As members, you are the cornerstone of everything we do. Your value extends far beyond annual financial contributions; each member brings a unique perspective, talent, and passion that strengthens our golf course and advances our mission.
Through dedication and hard work, you have helped revitalize Delmar into a stronger operation. The results speak for themselves. Since 2020, we have experienced continued growth in outside play, online bookings, memberships, private cart ownership, and restaurant sales. Positive momentum has created a new buzz and has encouraged more golfers to return to Delmar. Yearly memberships have grown to 146, a 62% increase since 2015, and we have members purchasing private carts at increased numbers. Course revenue has increased for the fifth consecutive year, and for the second consecutive year Delmar revenue surpassed the half-million-dollar mark. Even after covering expenses, taxes, depreciation, and loan obligations, the course ended the fiscal year with an operating profit—an encouraging result in light of the rising costs and considerable expenses involved in maintaining and improving the golf course.
As we look ahead with optimism and ambition, it is also important to remember that meaningful progress does not happen overnight. While we remain fully committed to continuing improvements, we must recognize that we can only accomplish so much at one time. Every enhancement to the golf course, clubhouse, and overall operation requires careful planning, financial responsibility, and patience. Sustainable growth takes time, and lasting success is built step by step. With your continued understanding, we will keep moving forward responsibly.
We will continue making needed investments into the facility and golf course during the 2026 season with the goal of improving the golf course experience for golfers of all levels and ages. This offseason the chemical budget was increased by 25% allowing for more treatment area. Nick Pollio has done an amazing job producing visible and meaningful results. We are happy to welcome back Geoffrey Bokor, Glenn Rosenberger, Rob Magnifico, Colten Crizer, Carson Cappello, Jackson Kerr, Nathan Kennedy, and Gino Biondi. Stephen Johns once again will oversee irrigation duties, as we continue to build on what we established last season thanks.
Finally, a huge thank you to my amazing father, Sam Sr., whose commitment, dedication, and passion over the last decade have made so much of this possible. As you step back from the day-to-day, please know I/we will forever be grateful for the countless unpaid hours you devoted to the golf course as we struggled to rebuild. We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and unselfishness during our hours of need.
Mrs. Gina Wise has graciously agreed to return once again this season as the Tin Cup Grille Manager. Under Gina’s leadership, the Tin Cup Grille has truly been reinvented and revitalized, becoming an important and enjoyable part of the Delmar experience. Much of that success is due to Gina and her dedicated staff—Rocky Carsele, Anthony Pisano, Robin Popovich, Luann Bokor, Emma Wise, Tammy Rozanski, Keira Rozanski, Tracey Ioanilli, Jaxon Rozanski, Geordy Bokor, Jacob Biskup, Adam Jeffcoat, Tyler Smiley, and Danny Harrison—and we are confident they will continue to provide the friendly service and hospitality that keeps members and guests coming back to the Tin Cup Grille.
As the golf season approaches, those members who have not yet purchased their 2026 yearly membership, and or finalized private cart payments, are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. Reminder private cart storage must be paid in full before your private cart is used.
Many thought Delmar would fold, that the challenges were too great, and the burden was too hard to overcome. They, however, underestimated our commitment and passion for the golf course. WE refused to let it fail and rebuilt what others thought was lost. The fact that the clubhouse doors are still 15 years later is not luck; it is proof of your devotion, sacrifice, and commitment to Delmar GC.
Delmar was never just something we owned or used—it was something we believed in. When others saw flaws, we saw character. When others saw uncertainty, we saw potential. We embraced the imperfection and worked to improve those imperfections
Delmar is more than a place to play golf. It is a refuge—a place of comfort, connection, and belonging. Our lives are woven into these fairways and greens, and the friendships formed here extend far beyond the game. This course has watched us grow, just as we have helped it grow in return. Together, we have created memories, traditions, and bonds that can never be replaced. In every sense of the word, we are family—the Delmar family.
The recent success and revitalization of Delmar belong to its members. Your unwavering support kept the course alive, your commitment drove its renewal, and your shared pride continues to shape its future. Thank you for ALL you have done along the way!

For more than six decades, Delmar has proudly served as the home for the Ellwood City golf programs. While proudly calling Delmar home, generations of student-athletes have developed their skills, built lifelong friendships, and created a tradition of success. This enduring partnership began in 1964 under the leadership of Head Coach Rizzo Mantz (1964–1977) and has continued through the tenures of Amos Mazzant (1978–2002) and Sam Barry Jr. (2003–present). Since 1964, Delmar has remained a valued partner and the proud home of the Ellwood City golf programs (boys and girls) and we wish them well in their future endeavors
